Site Lead – Syria/Levant

Position Summary:

The Site Lead oversees the Content Managers by providing guidance on the development and
organization of content for the key focus area (Syria/Levant). The Site Lead is responsible for
defining team priorities and maintaining appropriate organizational structure for information. The Site
Lead is expected to serve as a functional and regional subject matter expert during meetings and
briefings, and develop in-depth, working relationships with customers and platform users through


  • Ability to work independently, and identify, scope, and execute high value projects with little supervision

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Research and source collection from open source materials
  • Editing and technical writing skills
  • Ability to appropriately organize and categorize wide varieties of information
  • Ability to quickly assess large quantities of information from disparate sources for validity/integrity
  • Manipulate and format large, complex datasets
  • Ability to learn new software, navigate new digital tools, and apply them to current workflows
  • Familiarity of modern design standards and creation of simple, intuitive UI
  • Project prioritization, scoping, and expectation management

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to think through complex problems and provide multiple options for solutions
  • Ability to balance competing demands and appropriately prioritize time and effort
  • Ability to evaluate costs/benefits of alternative courses of action and select high utility choices

Mathematical Skills:

  • Understanding and application of basic statistical principles and methodologies

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experiential competency in international relations, foreign affairs, military affairs, and/or development
  • Experience working with US Government customers (including DoD, DoS, IC, interagency)
  • Familiarity and understanding of different histories, cultures, religions
  • Ability to work independently, and identify, scope, and execute high value projects with little supervision
  • Independence; willingness to go find answers for yourself
  • Sense of humor; ability to maintain even keel in stressful situations
  • Willingness to innovate; ability to consider new workflows and strategies for project success

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic desired

Desired Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS/MS in foreign affairs, history, or area studies
  • OCONUS work experience
